Since the reputation management agency is involved in digital marketing, they can finally have a reason to love Snapchat and so can every single marketer. Snapchat has a new ‘’Paperclip” creative tool that allows users to link third-party websites through their snaps. Now any publishers who haven’t been able to land a coveted spot in Snapchat Discover can finally benefit from the service of promoting their websites on the app.
Once you tap the paperclip icon to add a link, your friends can now swipe up to visit your site. You can access the paperclip by tapping the Vertical Toolkit and type in a link, which sounds a lot like Instagram’s features and this feature is available if you are a publisher or have a verified account. There are also other new features that Snapchat has added such as the new update backdrops, voice filters, and on-demand geo-filters. The backdrop allows you to cut a selected area from your snap and put a colorful pattern on it using the scissors icon just like the regular filters but the selection of backdrops will rotate daily.
Instead of Snapchat being the ‘cool’ social media, they now seem to step away from that and are attempting to commercialize itself. They are now also planning to have limited ads and are avoiding their pushiness. You can still skip Snapchat ads but they have been dipping into push notification recently and some users have complained that they are receiving notifications while logged out of the app.
Instagram has been assimilating everything that is making Snapchat unique and that’s why the platform has to move quickly to prove it’s worth the hype. Snapchat is still continuing to develop new features not just for users but now for marketers too. Of all of the features so far, the Paperclip is the high-profile tweak yet; hopefully Snapchat has more to show us.
